Kim McQuitty's Avon 3-Day Walk Page
Breast Cancer is a mean disease that claims the lives of approximately 40,000 women each year. Avon's Breast Cancer Awareness Crusade was created by Avon to reach the women most in need of breast cancer screening and treatment services and, to further fund the research to find a cure.
On May 31, June 1 and 2, 2002, I will be participating in Avon's Breast Cancer 3-Day. Alongside over 3,800 other women, I will be walking from Ann Arbor to Detroit, 60 miles total, 20 per day. While I have not been affected with breast cancer personally, I have had Fibroadenomas. Fibroadenomas are bengin tumors in the breast that affect women in their late teens and early twenties. My first detection was at the age of 23 where I underwent an outpatient procedure and 10 lumps were removed between both breasts. In June 2001, I underwent surgery again to remove a lump in my left breast that resurfaced. All of the lumps have been benign. Sponsoring me for this powerful event can help save lives and possible find a cure to breast cancer. Your tax deductible donation will assist me in reaching my fundraising goal of $2000 .
